Stored fully loaded, a conventional magazine keeps its spring crushed at maximum compression for years — and springs stored that way weaken. Born in a footlocker on
NAS Adak, Alaska — 1984

On a working party swapping out ammo, our founder's team discovered that scores of magazines — many brand-new, never fired — had been rendered useless by spring fatigue after years of staged, fully loaded storage. The military's answer was to designate mags "expendable" and buy replacements. Ours was to fix the problem.

Decades later, that fix is the ASF magazine: a movable sleeve that relaxes spring tension by half during storage, yet puts the mag into action instantly at full power. It was prototyped in metal, 3D-printed, computer-simulated, proven on a live range, and awarded two U.S. patents (with a third pending) before bulk injection-mold production ever began.
